Before Experiment#
When you first launch TQT Nuclei, a pop-up window shows basic navigation instructions. Review it and click Get Started to begin your session.
Magnet Warm-Up#
The NMR magnet must reach its operating temperature before you can take accurate measurements. This takes 1-2 hours after power-on, depending on room temperature and magnet type.
Why warm-up matters
NMR measurements are temperature-sensitive. Running experiments before the magnet stabilizes produces unreliable T1/T2 values and poor reproducibility. Always wait for the green indicator.
Monitoring Temperature#
The Temperature component in the upper-left corner of the HOME page shows:
- T-set: The target temperature (you can adjust this for your experiment).
- T-cur: The current magnet temperature, updated in real time.
The round indicator changes color to show the magnet's state:

While you wait#
The warm-up period is a good time to:
- Prepare your sample — fill the sample tube to at least 1 cm above the coil center. Remove air bubbles.
- Enter sample info — go to the SAMPLE INFO page and log the sample name, description, and anticipated T1/T2 values.
- Review your experiment plan — decide which presets or custom sequences you'll run.
Room temperature matters
In cold rooms (below 15°C), warm-up can take significantly longer. In hot environments (above 30°C), the magnet may overshoot before stabilizing. Keep the device in a temperature-controlled space (18-25°C) for fastest warm-up and best stability.
